Compelling evidence supporting the theory Jill Dando was executed by a Serb hitman has been put forward by Barry George’s defence lawyer.
Barrister Michael Mansfield QC, whose client was convicted but later cleared of murdering the BBC’s golden girl, says he was always convinced she was targeted by a trained assassin after angering dictator Slobodan Milosevic.
The Mirror revealed on Saturday that the widow of a Serbian journalist – shot dead on his doorstep in almost identical circumstances just days before Jill died on April 26, 1999 – believes Milosevic hitmen were behind both murders
Mr Mansfield also told the Mirror everything indicated Jill was shot by a professional killer who may have had help – not a weird loner.
